Kittat Al Suwairat Cave is a spectacular and serious vertical challenge, offering one of Oman's most memorable underground experiences. The trip is centered around an unforgettable 150-meter free-hanging abseil straight into the massive main chamber.
This is strictly for experienced cavers—proven proficiency in Single-Rope Technique (SRT) is mandatory. A true test of skill and nerve, rewarded by discovering a pristine subterranean world.
TRIP DETAILS
Caving
Technical Caving: Requires MANDATORY Single-Rope Technique (SRT) proficiency. The main event is the challenging 150-meter single-pitch abseil followed by horizontal exploration of the lower chamber.
Hike
The Approach Hike: A strenuous 2 hour hike with significant vertical gain to reach the cave entrance. Good physical fitness is required before even starting the vertical descent.
Location:High in the Hajar Mountains, near Jebel Shams. The remote setting ensures an untouched and spectacular subterranean environment.
Season
Crucial Safety Check: Trips are only possible during the dry season. We must check for no heavy rainfall in the preceding weeks to avoid flash flood risk in the wadi and cave system.
Equipment
Equipment Provided: We supply all required equipment. Includes rope, certified SRT kit, harnesses, headlamps, descenders/ascenders, etc
Duration
Duration:Full-Day Expedition (Approx. 8 Hours). Includes the long approach hike, the descent, cave exploration, and the challenging vertical ascent back out.
Donkey Support
Logistics: Donkey transport is required to efficiently move heavy vertical caving gear to the remote entrance.
